Beauty: New Season, New Beauty Wardrobe – 5 Beauty Products to Spring You Forward
Looking out the window, there are still bits and pieces of snow left behind on the sidewalk; the weather is nowhere close to warming up. Although, we did changed the clock back to Daylight Saving Time, which makes the day feels a lot longer again, and it makes me feel that spring weather will arrive sooner than later.
With a change of season, we always change up our wardrobe to match the weather. As for beauty products, we might alternate our moisturizers to adjust the change of humidity, but it is not as instinctual to change up all the other beauty products to match the season. It is actually not just important to give the beauty wardrobe an update to face the new season, it is also fun to get out of the rut and try some new color and textures to freshen up your daily look. Here are some of the products that came out just in time for the beautiful spring season:
I love this beautiful rose scented toner – it brings the spirit of spring into my morning ritual as it boosts my skin with hydration. This is a great toner to use everyday, and it’s particularly good in between seasons because of it’s hyaluronic acid – it provides deep cellular hydrations and helps reduce any inflammation or irritation that can be caused from the unpredictable spring weather. For skin that’s on the oilier side, try the Neroli Clarifying Toner also from Apoterra!
Spring is the season that new leaves started to peek out from the branches, and flowers stared to bud; it is also the time our body promotes the renewal of our skin cells. This serum from Sunday Riley is not exactly new to the market, but it is the perfect product to for detoxing and skin renewal. With its high potency lactic acid, which gives a tingling feeling upon application, it immediately exfoliates the dull skin that was built up from the heavy winter, and reveals a fresher skin with instant radiant. I prefer using it at night and layer it with face oil for an over-night pampering, but it can also be used during the day under foundation as a primer without adding any oiliness. The product is on the pricier side, but it definitely is money well spent.
Fresh’s Sugar Lip Treatment is one of my all-time-favorites; it simply has the best formula and consistency that works wonders on the lips. This new Sugar Lip Treatment is an advanced version of the good ol’ lip balm – it comes with a brush-looking applicator that helps buffs away the dry skin and massage the lip during application. It seems unnecessary and sort of gimmicky at first, but it actually works very well once I tried it. The soft bristle feels softer on the lips than it looks, and it helps the moisture-preserving formula to coat the lips fully and absorbs better. The lip treatment looks stickier and shinier than it really is, it definitely has a semi-glossy finish, but it does leave my lip pillowy soft after just one use and it gives a natural glow. The treatment is also very long lasting; for once I didn’t feel the need to reapply anything on my lips throughout the day!
Matte lip finish has been all the rage for the past few seasons, but with spring arriving, I started to crave for something more vibrant and punchy to replace the matte finish. Chanel recently just launched its new lip-gloss with brand new formula. First of all, unlike the old lip-glosses, it is not sticky at all, and it feels light yet moisturizing, which makes it comfortable to wear. The special curves applicator slightly hugs the lip to gives a even coverage, and it feels oddly luxurious just like its highly-pigmented colors. Just when I thought I’d never go back to lip-gloss again, this Glossimer is bringing back my lip-gloss addiction from the early 2000’s.
Now that winter is over, one of the first things we want to get rid of is the dull-looking winter skin – and all it takes is some good skincare products (cue in Sunday Riley Good Genes here), and a good highlighter to fake a good glow till we get the real glow. This gel highlighter from Marc Jacobs Beauty is one of the best I’ve tried lately. It comes in a gel texture that is easy to blend and also very buildable. I blend it with my foundation (I’m currently using IT Cosmetic Your Skin But Better CC+) for an all-over sheen. For a more glorious glow, I add another layer on my cheekbones and high points of my face. This highlighter has a peachy hue that is flattering and warm, but not orangey that gives you that fake-tan look. The formula contains 5 forms of coconut, so it feeds your skin while it gives you the beautiful dewy look!
Changing up my beauty wardrobe always helps me feel reenergized, and gets me all pumped up for the new season! Get the spring glow on with these products, maybe it will attract the spring weather to come sooner!
