Beauty: Last Minute Beauty Treatments for Pre-Summer Long Weekend Getaway

Slide2.jpg

April showers bring May flower – we not only had a lot of showers in April, the weather has been pretty wet for the whole month of May as well. It’s hard to believe we’re about to ring in summer with Memorial’s Day this weekend.

Memorial Day is not just meaningful because of the significant reasons behind the holiday – one of the first things I learned after I moved to the U.S. is that Memorial Day is also the weekend that marked the kick off of the Summer season, especially here in the Northeast area where winters are notoriously long – it marks the official time for everyone to put away the heavy winter outfits and take out the bathing suits and flip flops; it is the time to light up the BBQ in the backyard or take a weekend trip somewhere to celebrate the beginning of summer.

After a long week with endless amount of work, I can’t be happier to pack up my stuff and get ready to spend a weekend in Atlanta visiting my sister. Not that I need to glam up for my relaxing sibling time, but it is always nice to get myself cleaned and prepped before the trip, and get my body ready to welcome the exciting summer season.

Here are some of the last minute beauty treatments that will work in no time for anyone that’s ready to hit the road:

  1. Frist Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads

For me, exfoliate is always the first step of beaut treatment – it is important to buff away the accumulated unwanted layers and review the new skin cells underneath before we move on to the other pampering treatments. This facial pad from First Aid Beauty is gentle, safe yet very effective and easy to use. Each pad is soaked with lactic and glycolic acids that exfoliate and give skin a healthy glow. The natural essences from cucumber, gooseberry and licorice root also help tone and brighten the complexion. It takes just one pad to gently buff away the dullness, and result is just as good as a mini facial that gives an instant radiant boost!

  1. Verso Skincare Reviving Eye Mask with Retinol 8

It’s easy to give away our tiredness from our eyes, especially now with all the screen time on all sorts of devises, the appearance of dark circles and puffiness has become more severe than ever! This hydrogel eye mask from Verso that’s packed with a healthy dose of Retinol is a lifesaver! Retinol is a form of vitamin A, it helps rejuvenate and repair skin cells for a smoother brighter appearance. With the help of other hydrating agents in the formula, this eye mask provides such soothing and comforting sensation right at the delicate under-eye area, and it instantly reduce the puffiness and lighten the dark circle. It’s never as satisfying as a full 8 hours of sleep, but it’s the closest thing I can get to prep myself for a nice weekend.

  1. African Botanics Marula Detoxifying Salt and Sugar Scrub

Body exfoliation is just as important as facial exfoliation, especially now summer is arriving and we’re all ready to show some skin. This is one of my favorite body scrubs – it has such a luxurious texture and yet it’s 100% natural. Use it dry if you want a more intense scrub, or wet for a gentler effect; massage with circular motion to promote circulation and buff away dead cell, it leaves every inch of skin glowy and silky soft.

  1. Clarins Contour Body Treatment Oil

Even though African Botanics’ Scrub already comes in a oil based formula and doesn’t dry out skin, I usually like to treat my skin another layer of body oil for the ultimate pampering experience. Clarins has always been strong with their body treatment products, and this is one is no exception. This treatment oil contains pure plant extracts that help eliminate toxins and excess water under the skin; as a result, it reduces the look of cellulite and creates a smoother-looking silhouette. It’s about time to start tightening things up now we’re back in shorts season!!!

  1. Ouai Treatment Masque

Best. Hair Mask. Ever!! Whether you always have healthy hair or not, it’s important to prep your hair for all the sun, sand and salt its getting this summer. This treatment mask is formulated to restore and heal any damage in hair and leaves it extremely soft and smooth. All it takes is one treatment, no salon visit required!

  1. Glossier Invisible Shield SPF 35 Daily Sunscreen +

Sunscreen is not necessarily a pampering treatment, but it is something just as important to remember before leaving for a summery weekends, especially if you’re not already wearing sunscreen as a habit everyday! Glossier Invisible Shield is the brand’s newest item, and it’s exactly what we want a sunscreen to be like – it’s gel-based, light in texture and not greasy or messy at all. Wear it alone if you’re chilling by the pool, or wear it as the last step of your skincare routine. It not only prevents sun damage, but also works to neutralize harmful free radicals!! Applying a good sunscreen probably one of the best things you can give your skin, ever!

Happy Memorial Day weekend to all the beauties out there!
